Use this color reacting paper to test for lead in pipes or on any surface. Simply moisten the test paper with deionized water and press firmly on the surface being tested for two minutes. If a large amount of lead is present, there will be an immediate reaction. Smaller amounts of lead will show after several minutes. A final evaluation should be made after 15 minutes. A pink, red or dark purple color indicates the presence of lead.

Note: When present in large quantities, the following elements can interfere with the reaction: tellurium, silver, cadmium, barium and strontium.
