| Herbicides |
Herbicides, also referred to as weed killers, are used to kill unwanted plants or inhibit growth. These chemicals are classified as selective or non-selective. Selective herbicides target specific plants without damaging desired ones. Non-selective herbicides are toxic to all and are also called total kill products. There are contact and systemic herbicides. Contact herbicides only affect plant tissue that has surface contact while systemic herbicides are absorbed through the plants by foliage or roots. Contact herbicides work faster however systemic herbicides are generally more effective.
