Qwik-Freezer equipment utilizes environmentally safe liquid CO2 to freeze stationary water in selected sections of pipe. Using very low dry ice temperatures, it forms a secure 1500 psi rated in-line ice plug. This temporarily isolates the water in the system and allows repairs or modifications of valves without draining or otherwise shutting down. The system works on iron, steel, lead, copper, brass and even plastic pipe.
To use, wrap the specially designed jacket around the pipe and connect it to a cylinder of liquid CO2 with a high-pressure hose. Dry ice will immediately form around the pipe at a temperature of -109°F. The contents in the pipe will freeze quickly, forming an ice plug without damaging the pipe. It only takes 8 minutes to freeze a 3/4" metal line, but plastic lines and larger diameter lines take longer to freeze and use more CO2. Maintain the ice plug as long as necessary by periodically injecting more CO2 into the jacket. Depending on the total time, you may need extra cylinders of CO2. Thawing is relatively quick, depending on ambient temperature and pipe size.
All kits shown are for one plug at a time except for the double freeze kit, which allows you to do two plugs at once.

Note: Reusable cylinders are shipped empty; no CO2. Fill them locally at a welding, gas or beverage (CO2) distributor. Pipe freezers are not designed to freeze lines with flowing water. Flow must be isolated and stopped before and during use of this product. Ships motor frieght.
