The Handy Clam offers a reliable, easy way to clean out catch basins and manholes. Its durable construction will give you years of service. The tension mechanism is completely enclosed within the housing unit. When fully assembled, the heavy-duty Handy Clam lets you apply a large amount of leverage—mud and sand won’t clog it!
To use, simply assemble the pole sections, open the Handy Clam and lower it into the catch basin or manhole. Then, close the handle until it locks automatically. Lift the Handy Clam from the basin by the housing. Handy Clam won’t lose the load while bringing up large objects such as bricks, stones or lost tools.
Shipping: Ships via FedEx. All lengths ship in the same box. Section quantities vary based on total length ordered.
Note: If you want a single continuous length, one-piece poles are available as a special order. Continuous lengths ship motor freight.

Heat-treated cast-steel head and unbreakable Nupla® fiberglass handle
Sewer system operators helped design this unique tool for opening and removing manhole covers. They found a need for a single tool that would break frozen lids free and pull them off as well. Use the 12-lb sledgehammer end to break loose stuck covers. Use the 8-lb sledgehammer for concealed picks.
For gripping the lid, the tapered pick end fits 5/8" and larger drain holes and most pick slots. A serrated edge strengthens the pick end and eliminates the possibility of the tool becoming bottlenecked in the cover. Heat-treated cast-steel head and Nupla fiberglass handle with ribbed hand grip.
The T-Lift uses body weight to lift heavy covers, so you avoid the usual bending, straining or lifting the lid with your hands.
The T-Lift is designed to unseat, lift and set down a manhole cover in one smooth motion. It can also be used to clean inside the ring for a proper resealing.
Note: The T-Lift will only work for lids that have two pick holes opposite each other.
Looking to reduce back injuries while stretching your budget? These economical manhole lifters are simple and easy to use. Featuring aluminum construction, these lifters use rare earth magnets that never wear out.
Simple to use—just place the magnet on the end of your manhole cover, step on the handle to break the seal, then lift and pull towards you. The magnets do all the work! When finished, just slide the cover back over the frame.
