The Hach DR3900 spectrophotometer offers sophisticated technology that supports the operator from sampling to sample prep, analysis and documentation. Guided procedures take you step by step through your entire test, ensuring accurate results every time. Large color touchscreen display allows easy setup and navigation, and self check at startup lets you verify the unit is working properly.
Over 240 preprogrammed testing methods
Test for more than 70 parameters using over 240 preprogrammed methods. You can even create and store up to 100 custom methods. Measure absorbance, transmittance or concentration with single or multiple wavelengths (up to four), or perform a wavelength scan. Add formulas, variables and timers to complete your program. Keep frequently used programs in the Favorites folder for quick retrieval. Two sample cell compartments accommodate many sample cell sizes.
Compatible with TNTplus test reagents
Use the DR3900 with TNTplus test reagents for simple preparation and fast execution. TNTplus packages are color coded for clear parameter and range recognition. TNTplus vials feature easy-to-use DosiCaps that eliminate the risk of spillage and contamination. Advanced 2D vial barcodes are read within the sample chamber (compartment one), automatically determining your test method, lot number and expiration date. Meter prevents false readings by taking 10 measurements and eliminating outliers—scratched, flawed or dirty glassware is no longer an issue. This, combined with instrument calibration verification and high instrument stability, eliminates the need to run reagent blanks.
RFID technology captures sample ID, sample location and operator ID. It provides hands-free automatic updates of program calibration factors when you place a TNTplus reagent box in front of the meter. Sample tracking system allows you to track each measurement from the time you take the sample, to the time you execute your reading.
Record, track and analyze test results
Log up to 2000 readings, including result, date, time, sample ID and user ID. Consistent use of the sample ID function lets you observe trends with the data analysis function—view time variation curves based on each parameter and location. Ratio analysis calculates the ratio between concentrations of two or three parameters at any particular location. Meter features three USB ports and one Ethernet port for connection to your keyboard, USB memory stick, computer (PC), local network(s), LIMS or Hach SC series controller(s).

The TNTplus system gives you maximum accuracy, precision and repeatability, while minimizing the opportunity for errors.
A unique barcode on each vial is automatically read by the DR3900 or DR6000 spectrophotometer to identify the appropriate method and take the measurement.
Each sample is measured 10 times around the vial’s circumference. The measurements are analyzed for outliers and then averaged.
