Product Details
  • 3/4 to 2" in PVC, Cast Iron, Ductile, Cement
  • Complete with AWWA (CC) and NPT corp stop adapters

The DM2100 Hot Tap Drilling Machine can drill holes 3/4" through 2" in PVC, cast iron, ductile and cement-lined ductile pipe. The drilling unit mounts to standard service saddles with corporation valve or gate valve attached (not included). The valves shut off water from the pressurized line before the drilling unit is removed.

Kit includes DM2100 drilling machine, 10" adjustable wrench, 11" spud wrench, ratchet wrench, food grade tapping compound and corp adapter ball valve (for pressure relief), plus all mounting and drilling adapters required for AWWA (CC) and NPT corporation stops from 3/4" through 2". Drill bits, PVC shell cutters and carbide tipped hole saws must be purchased separately. For PVC pipe, select PVC shell cutters. For ductile and cast iron, select drills and/or hole saws depending on the size(s) required. Hole saws have carbide tips for extended life and are suitable for drilling cement-lined ductile or cement pipe.

Other options include an extended boring bar that must be purchased if you plan to drill through 1-1/2" and 2" gate valves. Also, when using Mueller 110 compression fittings, which have a proprietary thread, you will need to order special adapters

The DM2100 is operated with a ratchet wrench (included). If you are making a large number of taps, consider using one of the two electric power drivesThe power drives turn the boring bar while you manually turn the star feed.

The 700PD has a sturdy cast body and a handling weight of 34 lbs. It turns at 28 rpm with a powerful 1/2-hp motor. The more economical 601PD has an ABS plastic body and weighs just 17 lbs. It has a 1/2-hp motor, turns forward at 25 rpm, reverses at 60 rpm and comes in a plastic carrying case. Both drives include a 13/16" adapter that fits the square head on the DM2100 and many other tapping machines. You can purchase the 700PD power drive adapter separately—it will work with a Ridgid 700 power drive if you already have one on hand.

As an added bonus, the 700 PD power drive without the power drive adapter accepts Ridgid 12R or Reed R12 pipe dies 1/2" through 2" for use on plumbing jobs.
