Measure‚ totalize‚ record and transmit flow in partially filled pipes or irregularly shaped channels without the need for flumes or weirs. The MantaRay portable area velocity flow meter saves big money on time and installation. It calculates the area of flowing liquid from level and channel dimensions‚ and combines it with a velocity reading for accurate flow measurement. And unlike other portables‚ these advanced capabilities don't sacrifice battery life—log data for 30 days when set at 5-minute reading intervals.
This ultra-portable meter comes in a robust IP67-rated case. Side-mounted sensor and peripheral connections are also IP67-rated upon proper attachment. Operation is easy via five push-button menu selection and programing on the meter's backlit white LCD screen. All calibration parameters are password protected. Program output relays for flow-proportional pulse (for use with samplers)‚ flow and/or level alarms‚ and connect 4-20 mA / 0-5 V outputs to external devices.
The submersible sensor measures both level and velocity in the channel or pipe. Using "stealth" design principles‚ it minimizes flow restrictions‚ decreases cavitation‚ and increases overall hydraulic capabilities. Sensor resists fouling and corrosion‚ and tolerates turbulent high-velocity flows. Automatic temperature compensation aids in sensor accuracy.
Sensor installation is easy—simply attach the included SS mounting bracket to your pipe or channel floor‚ and clip the sensor into place. Optional mounting bands are available (sold separately). They use expandable spring tension rather than bolting or screwing.
The MantaRay stores up to two million data points at programmable intervals‚ complete with time and date stamp. Download files directly to a memory stick (sold separately) via the unit's USB output port‚ and transfer and view on your computer using Greyline's Windows®-based logger software (included). Software provides logger flow reports including total‚ average‚ minimum‚ maximum and times of occurrences. Save logged data as text files for easy import into programs like Microsoft® Excel®.
