Colitag™ Presence/Absence Test, 100/Pack
Description
- Use as an alternative to Colilert®-24
- Detection limit of 1 CFU of coliform or E. coli in a 100-mL sample
- Results in 16 to 48 hours
Colitag is a ready-to-use medium that determines the presence or absence of total coliforms and E. coli in drinking water or surface water in a single step. It resuscitates and detects chlorine-injured bacteria, giving you a highly sensitive tool for regulatory testing. To use, simply add Colitag to a 100-mL water sample, incubate and read the color change in 16 to 48 hours—no confirmation steps needed. If coliform bacteria are present, the medium changes from nearly colorless to a vibrant yellow. An optional comparator (sold separately) helps with color determination. If E. coli bacteria are present, the medium emits a bright blue fluorescence when exposed to 365 nm longwave UV light.
Order sample containers, stock #s 30920 or 87390, separately. Colilert is a registered trademark of Idexx Laboratories, Inc.
- Incubation time: 24 to 48 hours at 35°C ±0.5°C (prewarm sample at 44.5°C for 7 to 10 minutes for results in 16 to 22 hours)
- Sample size: 100 mL
- Initial color: near colorless
- Positive for coliforms: yellow
- Positive for E. coli: fluorescent (requires UV lamp)
- Pack of: 100
