Description

Product Details
  • Read accurate flow in manholes, collection systems and other open channels
  • Noncontact ultrasonic and radar technologies keep sensor out of the flow—resists fouling
  • Surcharge Velocity Sensor (SVS) option keeps measuring flow if sensor becomes submerged

FLO-DAR flow sensors provide noncontact, maintenance-free portable or permanent sewer flow monitoring. Ideal for open channel flow monitoring, they combine advanced digital doppler radar velocity sensing technology with ultrasonic pulse echo depth sensing to continuously measure flow. Pair them with Hach FL900 series flow loggers (wireless or standard) for portable, battery-powered monitoring.

FLO-DAR sensors are ideal for continuous operation in the most difficult conditions, including flows with high solids content, high temperature, shallow and caustic flows, large man-made channels, and high velocities up to 20 ft/s. Because you mount them out of the process flow, they won't become fouled by grease or debris—which means they won't miss any flow data. Sensor typically remains accurate and stable for three years without site calibration, even across all ranges from low flow depths up to surcharge conditions.

Initial installation is simple with available mounting brackets (no in-pipe bands or rings necessary) or temporary jack bar spanner mounts. Subsequent sensor removal and retrieval is even easier with accessories like telescoping pole with hook, eliminating need for confined space entry. All mounting hardware and accessories sold separately.

FLO-DAR models with the powerful SVS feature keep measuring even during planned or accidental submersion when surcharge flow events occur. Additional on-board technologies (pressure transducer and electromagnetic velocity) take over measurement responsibilities in these conditions. Standard measuring depth range is 5 feet; contact us for models with depth ranges up to 18 feet, as well as intrinsically safe sensors.

For a complete system, order a FLO-DAR sensor with optional SVS. installation hardware, sensor connecting cable, matching length SVS cable, and FL900 flow logger. Note: FLO-DAR sensors with SVS need two available sensor ports on the FL900 logger.

Tech Specs:
  • Compatibility: Hach FL900 flow logger
  • Depth measurement: ultrasonic, 0 to 60"
  • Velocity measurement: pulsed radar, 0.75 to 20 ft/s
  • Surcharge Depth measurement: submersible pressure transducer, up to 138"
  • Surcharge velocity measurement: electromagnetic, ±0 to 16 ft/s
