  • For 5/8" x 1/2" and 5/8" x 3/4" meters
  • Sensus‚ Badger‚ Neptune
A leading meter manufacturer tested a meter jacket in its in-house testing lab with the following results: In evaluating two bronze 5/8" water meters‚ one protected with the meter jacket and the other unprotected‚ after 3 hours and 15 minutes of exposure of -20°F temperature‚ the unprotected meter froze. The meter protected with the meter jacket‚ however‚ did not freeze after more than 22 hours and 45 minutes of exposure to this sub-zero temperature.  Meter jackets are made of expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation. The two halves which go together to encase the meter are held together on each end by straps equipped with Velcro connectors. Those marked "new" are for the current design and have a 3-1/2" round opening with a slot at one end for the register’s hinge. The other style is for older models and has a 3-3/4" nominal opening with 4 indentations for the lugs on the register locking ring.  Meter jackets are available only for the brands and models listed below for 5/8" x 1/2" and 5/8" x 3/4" sizes.
