In areas where buried electric cables may exist, our insulated probe provides both protection from accidental contact with high voltage underground power lines, and superior alloy steel strength for the toughest soil conditions. No other probe offers this combination of safety and strength!
The 1" x 11" solid steel handle is covered with durable vinyl that softens impact. High-strength reinforced composite material insulation between the handle and probe rod is molded to the handle and tested up to 45,000 volts. The 3/8"-diameter high alloy steel probe rod features a replaceable tip.
For extra probe rod impact for penetrating tough soil, order an optional slide handle adapter (stock # 28186). It mounts between the existing handle and rod, converting the handle into a slide hammer with a 6" vertical stroke. The impact-resistant tool steel slide hammer adapter is 9" long and weighs 1.6 lbs. To lock the slide adapter in place when not in use, order the optional slide adapter stop & pin (stock # 28187).
