This kit is a two-step direct measurement for alkalinity and pH, so if you are already measuring pH, it is just one more easy step to measure alkalinity. Simply calibrate for pH as usual, add the alkalinity reagent and read the total alkalinity in ppm CaCO3 from the pH conversion chart. Saves time by eliminating tedious titrations and calculations.
