The Bugs Are Coming—STRIKE® The Bugs Are Coming—STRIKE®
How does STRIKE work?
STRIKE is NOT a traditional insecticide.
Unlike other products, which only kill a small amount of adult flies, STRIKE contains an EPA-approved insect growth regulator (IGR) which mimics the natural biochemicals in an insect’s body. Pre-adult nuisance flies absorb the IGR into their systems, where it disrupts normal development and causes them to remain in the pupal stage.
STRIKE Professional Midge Control Liquid and Pellets
• EPA approved for wastewater facilities
• Shut down midges and filter flies without disrupting facility productivity
Use this professional-quality midge control formulation in sludge drying beds, lagoons, trickling filters, aeration tanks—wherever there is a swarming problem. Strike’s active ingredients control midges before they become swarming adults. With its target-specific action, Strike won’t affect fish, waterfowl, mammals or beneficial predatory insects. It also has the industry’s lowest toxicity rating.
Choose from pellets or two liquid formulations
Strike pellets can be applied by hand by tossing them around problem areas. Designed to dissolve over a four week period, they provide a 30-day extended release of chemical. Pellets are extremely effective in any standing and some dynamic water environments. Recommended application rates are 5 to 10 lbs per acre. The liquid is available in two different low VOC formulations: Strike and Strike Ultra with 13% more active ingredients. Both formulations are mixed at 3 to 5 ounces per million gallons of flow per day to about 35 gallons of water in a 35-gallon tank (preferably with potable water).
Standard STRIKE formulation should be pumped with a 2-gph metering pump over a 24 hour period. Pump Strike liquid for 10 days straight, once per month. STRIKE Ultra formulation should be pumped with a 2-gph metering pump for a 6 to 8 hour period during the plants “low flow” time of the day. Strike Ultra is applied for 10 days straight, then stopped for 20 days. Strike Ultra can be applied year round where infestations are present. Should only be used in trickling filters, biotowers, sandfilter buildings or small confined areas.
Note: When using STRIKE or STRIKE Ultra, it is highly recommended that a mechanical agitator be used to ensure optimum mixing and performance of the chemical. Mixer, tank and pump are sold separately. STRIKE is an uncontrolled label. Contact your local regulatory agency to see if an applicator’s license is needed.
